The anvi'o team just released v9 "Eunice". Anvi'o v9 is the first stable release in nearly two years, and comes with a lot of changes relative to v8. See the release notes here.
Why is this important for the GlobDB?
The anvi'o contigs databases provided on the Downloads page will now work with both the v9 and the development versions of anv'o, instead of just the development version.
Or in more detail:
Anvi'o uses separate versioning for their main artifacts, such as contigs databases. Each anvi'o version is works with specific versions of anvi'o artifacts. The anvi'o databases provided by the GlobDB were not compatible with v8 (anymore), due to a version change of the contigs databases in the development branch between the release of v8 and v9. Now that v9 has been released, the anvi'o contigs database version used by both the development branch and the latest stable release are the same again.
Thus, GlobDB contigs databases are now compatible with both anvi'o v9 and the development version.
